Tótraszlavica / Raslavice - Sárosi népzene - Original Village Music from the Šariš Region in North-Eastern Slovakia-New Patria series

 

The village was first mentioned in 1261 as Razlo, while later sources refer to it as Razlauch, Razlofolde or Razlofalua. Agriculture and animal husbandry have been the primary occupations in the village since it was founded.

 

Influences of neighboring ethnic groups can be easily recognized in Slovak folk music in the Šariš Region. The first few tracks on this album are good examples of this. Most of the melodies for the local men’s dances clearly reflect the Hungarian influence.
